This week marks the beginning of National Letter of Intent (NLI) signings across the country. Beginning on November 14, high school seniors who are prospective student-athletes can officially commit to a four-year university.

Deptford High School senior Leah Giles signed her NLI to attend La Salle University on a soccer scholarship, and senior Naseem Smith signed his NLI to attend Syracuse University on a track and field scholarship; both schools are members of NCAA’s Division I.

“We are very proud of our student-athletes and all they accomplish on the field,” said Irv McFarland III, Athletic Director. “Leah and Naseem are standout athletes and also standout students in the classroom. It’s important to remember that they are committing not only to a collegiate sports career but also investing in their academic future. La Salle and Syracuse are excellent schools and we are proud that Leah and Naseem can continue to represent Deptford on a much larger stage. We look forward to all they will accomplish.”
