Academy of Engineering and Computer Science
Spartans “Leading the Way” to an Improved Future
From designing their own apps to delivering safe, clean water to communities, engineers find solutions to pressing problems and turn their ideas into reality. PLTW Engineering empowers students to step into the role of an engineer, adopt a problem-solving mindset, and make the leap from dreamers to doers. The program’ s courses engage students in compelling, real-world challenges that help them become better collaborators and thinkers. Students take from the courses in-demand knowledge and skills they will use in high school and for the rest of their lives, on any career path they take.
Our program consists of introductory coursework in engineering based on the nationally accredited Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses with Introduction to Engineering Design and Principles of Engineering. From there, students can choose which path of engineering or computer science elective tracks and courses they wish. We also have a STEAM track where students take courses aligned with a gaming design approach.
Benefits of our academy:
Engineering Elective Courses:
BETA TRACK – Students who enter the Academy of Engineering and Computer Science without having taken Algebra I in 8th grade will have a modified schedule of engineering courses.
*Students in band or choir electives are not required to take STEAM classes for visual and performing arts credits.
