The First Stage of the State mandated lead in water testing was started March 16th 2017 and completed March 30th 2017 which included a plumbing survey of all buildings, types of plumbing materials used including fixtures, piping, service lines, drinking water outlets and any drinking water filters.
The Second Stage will take place on June 3rd 2017 to sample all potable water locations at all District buildings. These samples will be analyzed by a certified NJBOE approved laboratory in accordance with a Quality Assurance Project Plan.
The Third Stage is within 24 hours after the Deptford Township Board of Education has reviewed and verified the final laboratory results, the District Board of Education shall:
- Make the test result of all water samples publicly available at the school facilities and on the school website;
- If any results exceed the permissible lead action level,(15.5ug/l) provide written notification to the parents/ guardians of all students attending the facility, as well as to the Department of Education. This notification will include a description of the measures taken by the District to immediately end use of each drinking water outlet that exceeds the permissible lead action level, the measures if needed to ensure alternate drinking water is available to all students and staff.
