Arthur Dietz is the Deptford Township Superintendent of Schools. He was selected by the School Board on May 8, 2018 and started as Superintendent on July 1, 2018. Deptford has six elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school, with a budget of $70,000,000. Deptford Township Schools serve 4,146 students.
Arthur Dietz has spent his entire adult life serving our nation and our youth. He began his career serving in the United States Army as a pilot and military intelligence officer, flying both rotary and fixed wing aircraft.
While serving as a Company Commander in Hungary during Operation Joint Endeavor, Mr. Dietz flew numerous reconnaissance missions over Bosnia. Later, while assigned to the Pentagon, he was responsible for matters concerning Army airborne reconnaissance.
Mr. Dietz began shifting his career emphasis to education, when he served as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at Temple University. Enjoying the field of education, after serving over twenty years in the United States Army, Major Dietz retired from active duty service and became the Senior Army Instructor for Delsea Regional High School’s JROTC program.
Though he very much enjoyed this position, he was delighted to join Deptford Township School District, as the Vice Principal of Deptford High School for four years. Since then, he has thoroughly enjoyed his last six years as the Principal of Monongahela Middle School. While he will miss his daily interactions with the students and staff of MMS, Mr. Dietz is now thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the outstanding students, families, and staff of the entire Deptford community.
