Shady Lane provides a unique school campus comprised of both an early childhood center and elementary school serving the needs of a diverse student body of nearly 500 students. Originally constructed in 1957 and expanded in 1973 and again in 2003 to open its early childhood center, Shady Lane is the only facility in the district that schools children in grades kindergarten through sixth. It is no surprise that such a unique school would take pride in its many achievements.
Over the years, Shady Lane has received several modernizations and enhancements to maintain its technology-rich learning environment. Smartboards and computers are in every classroom, and computer labs are available for instructional use. In addition, the Media Center uses a computerized catalogue system that allows for electronic circulation of all materials. In addition, a mobile computer lab with laptop computers is utilized throughout the building. The school is networked to provide Internet access to every classroom, office, and Media Center computer. Technology is a powerful tool in the classroom, and has paved the way for Shady Lane students to access information and programming that reaches beyond the boundaries of their classroom walls.
